These seem to to be on trend now and my how lovely they are especially for a summer wedding or birthday. I am going to a wedding in February and as our gift am making the wedding cake. Thought I would trial some flavours today, my boys are delighted 😊
So I made a coconut vanilla flavoured sponge and a chocolate sponge. Gave the chocolate one a bit of twist , using about 1/4 cup of limoncello . Just cut cake in two and with a pastry brush paint on the limoncello. Then sandwich together with lemon curd. I just sandwiched the coconut sponge together with vanilla butter cream.
Put cakes onto a cake plate or silver board and ice with vanilla butter cream. A flat spatula comes in handy to get a nice semi naked look.
Will post finished wedding cake when done this just a trial version. You can see how easy it is.
